The good news! I am now a non-smoker again! The bad news... I packed on a few pounds quitting. Sad, but completely normal. I admit that I have been neglecting my weight loss efforts in a big way. The gain is not only the result of quitting smoking, but it is also because I've been hyper-focusing on a website that I'm building called, the Bev List. It is being designed in Drupal, which is difficult to master at times. The thing that helped provide a bad excuse for neglecting my fitness routine is that my girlfriend got her gallbladder removed, so I've sort of been lazy the last few days.

Quitting smoking is huge because I have not felt great during workouts in a while. It really does have an impact. I started again back in October after quitting for 7 or 8 years. That's one of the big reasons. The other big one is that it is so expensive! I'm poor right now and $8 per day adds up; which is what it was because I was a 3/4 to pack a day smoker. I'm using the patch right now and this is day 21. The urge to smoke is going away quickly and I think of myself as a non-smoker again.

So, now that leaves me with getting this fitness thing launched again.....

I'm going to focus on the next 5 weeks. I'm choosing 5 weeks because in MyFitnessPal, when you finish your diary for the day it says, "if everyday were like today you'd weigh x-pounds in 5 weeks". So, I'm focusing on seeing what I can do by October 19th. I'm also only focusing on my short term goals that I set.

The first step is getting rid of the major sugar cravings. So, I'm cutting carbs down to 25 grams again for a week, moving up to 50, 75, and then 100 grams. I really didn't limit myself when I was quitting smoking.

The next thing is to get back on regular workouts. What I've been doing is working on my website for work lunch breaks. I'm going to workout for 2-3 of those now. I will workout at least 4 times per week for 30-45 minutes. I'm not going to try a push it. But, getting there and putting in the time is important.

As for MyFitnessPal settings, aside from lower carbs, my calorie settings will be 1,500 from Monday to Thursday and whatever MFP recommends Friday to Sunday. Ideally, I'd like to stay at or under calorie settings. But, I will absolutely stay under the net weekly calories (in the green). As for restrictions, I'm avoiding too much refined sugar and wheat.

I also commit to 100% tracking, weekly journaling (like this), and doing all of the weigh-ins for the next 5 weeks. As of now, my weigh-in day is Monday since I'm getting at it again on Monday. Journaling does help, because it helps me focus.
